80年代后期，狼牙侦察大队狙击手何卫东(吴京 饰)为救观察手范天雷(周惠林 饰)，被敌狙击手“蝎子”狙杀，儿子何晨光(吴京 饰)立志继承父志。15年后，范天雷已是狼牙特战狙击手教官(任天野 饰)，他鼓励全国青少年武术冠军何晨光、颇有射击天赋的社会青年王艳兵(徐佳 饰)、朴实却有超常毅力的农村少年李二牛(赵荀 饰)一起参军。新兵集训采用了侦察兵的魔鬼式训练，三人分到一个团后分到一个班，令何晨光、王艳兵 和李二牛苦成为了特种兵中的特种兵，与飞行员宋凯飞(任柯诺 饰)、来自武术世家的徐天龙(郎峰 饰)组成了“红细胞”小组。未来还有许多危险在等待，成长还需要经历更多残酷的洗礼，他们克服种种困难，最终消灭各种反动势力，成功干掉了蝎子，最终站在胜利的巅峰。仅仅因为大家和自己。
